Treatment Results
The treatment results obtained from the Compact S
lithotripter following the GLS treatment protocol are excellent. Overall, a retreatment
rate of 16% was seen from a series of 861 patients in Thailand, Australia and the
Philippines. 84% of patients needed only one treatment while 13% required two treatments.
For stones less than 10 mm (measured as the maximum dimension), fully 90% required only
one treatment.

Follow-up results after three months were collected
at Bangkok General Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand for a series of 96 patients treated
between August '96 and August '97. A 94% success rate was observed (success defined as no
fragments remaining or fragments less than 4 mm). Note that these results were for
ureteral calculi (UC) and renal calculi (RC).
